Overview

Discover the best of Catalina in one day: a smooth cruise, a guided snorkel over the famous reef wall, and downtime at a private beach area with a tasty Dominican buffet and open bar. Clear turquoise water, white sand, and tropical fish everywhere—this is the effortless reef-and-relax combo you were looking for.

Full Description

Your day begins with a comfortable hotel pick-up to the marina in La Romana. After a short safety briefing, board a spacious motor-catamaran/boat and set course for Catalina’s protected marine area.

Our first highlight is snorkeling at “The Wall” (or an equivalent site chosen by the captain for best conditions). In crystal-clear water, you’ll float over coral formations that step down into deeper blue, home to colorful reef fish and, with luck, the occasional ray or turtle. Masks are included but we recommend bringing a more complete kit, and your guide will be in the water to assist beginners. Typical water visibility ranges 10–20 m with reef depths from ~5 m and beyond, so it’s great for first-timers and fun for experienced snorkelers.

Back on board, we continue to Catalina Island. As we approach, the sea turns that signature turquoise and a white-sand beach comes into view. You’ll have time to swim, sunbathe on a lounger, or stroll the shoreline before enjoying a Dominican lunch right on the beach (grilled meats, salads, rice, pasta, fresh fruit), plus drinks like water, sodas, beer, and rum. After lunch, more free time to relax, swim, or take photos.

In the afternoon, we cruise back toward the mainland. Your driver will be waiting for the return transfer to your hotel—memories full of reef colors and island vibes.

Note: The Captain Kidd “Quedagh Merchant” protected wreck lies off Catalina’s shore in shallow water. Access/visibility depends on sea conditions and park regulations; it’s not guaranteed on every departure.

Insider Tips

  • Reef-safe sunscreen: Use biodegradable sunscreen, a hat, and polarized sunglasses.

  • Wear a rash guard & water shoes: Great for strong sun and easy water entry/exit.

  • Seasickness prep: If prone, consider a non-drowsy remedy 30–60 min before; sit mid-boat and look at the horizon.

  • Bring a towel & dry bag: Keep phone/camera and a change of clothes dry.

  • Phone protection: A waterproof pouch is highly recommended for in-water photos.

  • Cash & ID: For souvenirs, professional photos, and gratuities (optional).

  • Snorkel smart: Start with a life vest, follow your guide, and never touch or stand on coral or marine life.

  • Family note: Ages 2+ with active parental supervision; snorkeling is optional and flotation is provided.

  • Hydration & sun care: Drink water often and reapply sunscreen after swimming.

  • Conditions disclaimer: Water visibility, sites, and any wreck views depend on weather/park rules and aren’t guaranteed.

  • Equipment: It is recommended to bring your own snorkeling equipment
